Antibiotics Causing Fatal Diarrhea in Children

 
 
 
Newly published research from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has found that doctor-prescribed antibiotics could be contributing to bouts of fatal diarrhea in children.

Scientists found that the majority of pediatric Clostridium difficile infections took place following a round of antibiotics, according to the agency. The infections led to severe bouts of diarrhea, some of which can prove to be fatal.

The CDC found that 71 percent of cases of C. difficile in kids between 1 and 17 years old were not related to an overnight stay in a hospital or healthcare facility. Alternately, the research found that two-thirds of adult infections were indeed linked to hospital stays.

As reported by Medical News Today:

The average human gut is home to over a thousand species of microbe. Kept in the right balance, these micro-organisms do no harm and the "friendly" ones even help with vital processes like digestion and protecting the gut.

But if the balance of these microbe populations is upset - by taking antibiotics, for example - there is a risk of losing vital protection from the beneficial bacteria. This allows C. difficile to grow out of control and release toxins that attack and inflame the lining of the gut, causing colitis.


Plain and simple, antibiotics are being over-prescribed

Among the "community-associated" C. difficile cases in children, 73 percent had been prescribed antibiotics at least 12 weeks before contracting an infection, the CDC said. They were most often prescribed them by a doctor or outpatient facility. The agency also said that in most cases the children were being treated for "wear, sinus, or upper respiratory infections."

"Improved antibiotic prescribing is critical to protect the health of our nation's children," said CDC Director Tom Frieden, M.D., M.P.H. "When antibiotics are prescribed incorrectly, our children are needlessly put at risk for health problems including C. difficile infection and dangerous antibiotic resistant infections."

The agency has recently released new antibiotic recommendations and said it hopes to reduce outpatient prescriptions of those drugs by 20 percent, as well as C. difficile prescriptions by 50 percent, over the next five years. The CDC says that those kinds of reductions could decrease hospitalizations by 150,000 and save 20,000 lives.

Antibiotics are one of the most overprescribed medicines in history.

"As both a doctor and a mom, I know how difficult it is to see your child suffer with something like an ear infection," Lauri Hicks, D.O., director of the CDC's "Get Smart: Know When Antibiotics Work," program, said in the news release. "Antibiotics aren't always the answer. I urge parents to work with their child's doctor to find the best treatment for the illness, which may just be providing symptom relief."

Chemotherapy Myth Shattered: Toxic Drugs Cause More Cancer Than They Prevent

 
 
 
 
New research funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) has shattered the prevailing myth that chemotherapy drugs actually fight cancer. To the contrary, researchers from Harvard University and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, (UMA) found that these clinical poisons, though sometimes initially effective at stemming the growth and spread of existing tumor cells, eventually induce major stem cell damage that causes even more cancer.

Publishing their findings in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), the team that worked on the project investigated how chemotherapeutics affect the body systematically by testing them out on fruit flies. According to an announcement about the study, scientists administered human-equivalent doses of chemotherapy drugs to Drosophila, a type of fruit fly, that had been spawned with a human cancer-causing gene, which activated in the flies' intestinal stem cells.

Drosophila, it turns out, are perfect test subjects for this type of experiment because their microenvironments are aptly suited for evaluating the division, differentiation and death of stem cells as exposed to outside influences. With regard to chemotherapy drugs, Drosophila serve as optimal specimens for extrapolating data on how human stem cells respond to being poisoned with these chemicals.

The team was able to obtain a sample library of 88 currently used chemotherapy drugs from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), as well as a library of 6,000 small molecules from the Harvard Institute of Chemistry and Cellular Biology, which was used to test the drugs. From this, the researchers identified several new compounds, including three Chinese medicinal extracts capable of inhibiting tumors without causing any harmful side effects.

At the same time, at least seven of the chemotherapy drugs tested, each of which is currently in use in Western medicine, were found to cause major side effects, including the over-proliferation of stem cells. Taking these drugs, they learned, causes small "tumor" growths to emerge from the stem cells, which, given the right environment and genetic background, could eventually turn malignant.

"We discovered that several chemotherapeutics that stop fast growing tumors have the opposite effect on stem cells in the same animal, causing them to divide too rapidly," said Michelle Markstein, a molecular biologist from UMA and co-author of the new study. "This was a surprise, because it showed that the same drug could have opposite actions on cells in the same animal: Suppressing tumor growth on one cell population while initiating growth in another."
 

Earlier studies on mice, flies corroborate cancer-causing potential of chemotherapeutics


Related research published prior to this latest study arrived at similar conclusions. The chemotherapy drug doxorubicin was determined in both mice and fly models to induce stem cell overgrowth, specifically by activating certain genetic pathways that resulted in a severe inflammatory response. The end result of this inflammation, in many cases, was cancer.

"We propose that the same side effect may occur in humans based on our finding that it is driven in Drosophila by the evolutionarily conserved Janus kinase-signal transducers and activators of transcription (JAK-STAT) pathway," wrote the authors of the new PNAS study about their conclusions. "An immediate implication of our findings is that supplementing traditional chemotherapeutics with anti-inflammatories may reduce tumor recurrence."

If you look around America today, mathematical mental illness is found everywhere. It's found in the federal budget, where numbers only mean what we are told they mean, not what they really mean. It's also found in the new "Common Core" curriculum, spearheaded by the federal government, which seems intentionally designed to make children mentally ill and as confused as possible.

Case in point: See this homework assignment from an elementary school in New York. The "mathematics" exercise instructs children to "Draw the cubes you colored in the number bond" and then "Show the hidden partners on your fingers to an adult."

The final instruction asks students to "Color the fingers you showed."

I do PhD-level work in analytical chemistry and code complex relational databases, yes despite my best efforts to grasp this Common Core exercise, I have no idea what on Earth this lesson is attempting to teach.

Examining these lessons, I feel a genuine sense of alarm for the future of America. If even the people writing mathematics lessons can't communicate clearly, then we are rapidly descending into Idiocracy. The real aim seems to be about making school children mentally ill so that they cannot possibly understand the federal budget deficit, national debt, or the coming collapse of the U.S. dollar (which will destroy their paychecks and life savings when it ultimately happens).
 

The mystery of the shaded parts


Here's another Common Core lesson that just baffles the mind. The lesson asks children to "Match the picture with the fraction that names the shaded part."


 
As you can clearly see, there are no shaded parts! Yet this appears to be the whole point: to drive children insane by making them believe they cannot grasp reality.

Your school child can get extra credit, as you see at the bottom left of the sheet, by, "telling how you made each match." I have no doubt the correct answers here would be along the lines of, "I used government math to figure it out" or even, "The pretty one is the best answer."

Finally, there's one more Common Core exercise that the Daily Caller has named the "worst math question in human history."

Then it actually sounds slightly less insane, figuring that people who snort bags of cocaine probably don't care much about mathematics in the first place:

The Common Core curriculum, of course, is all about training young minds to be so utterly confused that they will agree to inject their own children with mercury in vaccines while voting for whichever candidate promises to give them the most "free" stuff.

Common Core is about making American children incredibly stupid so that as those children reach voting age, more people will vote for stupid government that enacts stupid laws to achieve stupid results.

It's about making intelligent thought as elusive as possible so that people can be easily manipulated into thinking that drinking diet soda makes you thin or that taking blood pressure medications makes you feel healthy and vibrant. (Or even that eating Happy Meals makes you happy.)

As long as the population is trained to exist in a state of total confusion and bewilderment, they will actually believe the news they hear on MSNBC or the dodgy answers coming from the White House press secretary. In a nation where the political party with the greatest number of stupid people wins the next election, dumbing down the masses is a key strategy for long-term power!

Nations like China, India and Russia, meanwhile, are actually teaching their children to succeed at math and science.

How to easily (and cheaply) capture dietary mercury

Mercury is the most easily-captured heavy metal of all. In any laboratory environment, mercury is well known to be a "sticky" element because it sticks to instrument tubing and vials. If I place a known quantity of mercury in a vial of nitric acid and water, for example, a measurement of the vial shows less mercury than should be present because some of that mercury sticks to the walls of the very instrument used to carry out the testing.

Interestingly, it turns out that mercury is also "sticks" to certain dietary fibers. In particular, my research has found that insoluble fruit fibers are extremely effective at capturing mercury during digestion. Mercury is unique in this way, as such fibers are very poor at binding with lead, cadmium, arsenic and other metals. But they stick to mercury like glue.

As part of my research into this phenomenon, I tested many dietary fibers, including psyllium husk fiber, guar gum, vegetable fibers and fruit fibers. The most effective fruit fiber of all was -- believe it or not -- strawberry fibers.


Until today, nobody has known this seemingly simple fact, and even I didn't know it until I conducted this research. Now, I'm freely passing on the knowledge to you in the hopes that you will share it with others: Eat strawberries to block dietary mercury!


Captures over 95% of dietary mercury

In my tests, strawberries were able to capture over 95% of all the mercury added to the gastric acid solution in a human digestion simulator.

This effect was also confirmed for freeze-dried strawberries but not strawberry juice because pure juice lacks fibers (pulp).

Why strawberries? Because strawberries are the only common fruit with seeds on the outside. Under a microscope, you can see that each tiny strawberry seed is connected to the center of the strawberry via a bundle of plant fibers. These fibers, it turns out, are incredibly strong and are not easily digested in human digestion. They pass through you largely intact, much like psyllium husk fibers or insoluble vegetable fibers.

Isolated under a microscope, these strawberry fibers are also translucent, by the way. And what's really amazing is that they even resist digestion with nitric acid. Somehow, these fibers are amazingly strong and resilient, yet nearly invisible to the naked eye.

In the gastrointestinal tract, they function as "mercury sponges" that mop up mercury with amazing efficiency.

Even better than green grasses

In my laboratory testing, strawberries worked even better at binding to mercury than green grasses such as barley grass or wheat grass (see the full chart below).

This is great news for those who want healthy eating options which are also great-tasting. Simply eat some strawberries with your meal to mop up most of the mercury found in whatever else you ate (such as sushi, tuna, ocean fish, etc.).

If you don't like strawberries, you can use other fruits such as citrus fruits (eaten raw and whole, of course, with all the fibers intact). The next best fruits after strawberries are citrus fruits, followed by apples and pears.

Peanut butter even better than strawberries!

You'll probably find this fascinating, but peanut butter was even better than strawberries at binding with mercury, turning in an amazing 96% efficiency score at capturing dietary mercury. Apparently, the "stickiness" of peanut butter really gels with the stickiness of mercury. How about a tuna fish peanut butter and jelly sandwich?

Care to guess what was even better than peanut butter? Hemp protein.

I know, it seems counterintuitive. But I confirmed the results with several different hemp protein brands. All hemp proteins have a powerful "anti mercury effect." They capture around 98% of dietary mercury.

There was only one substance, however, that was even more powerful than strawberries, peanut butter and hemp protein. That substance is Clean Chlorella, our in-house chlorella brand which is so free of heavy metals that it seems to attract them like crazy. And just so you don't think I'm merely plugging our own product, it turns out that all chlorella products we tested were very good at capturing mercury, with effectiveness ranging from 96% to 99%.

Eat strawberries with all the following foods

Here's the practical upshot of all this: When you're eating ocean fish, tuna fish, seafood or sushi, you're probably eating mercury. We even found mercury in seafood snacks and pet treats.

How do you protect yourself from that mercury? Eat some fresh, whole strawberries with your meal. Or if you don't like strawberries, eat some peanut butter, hemp protein or take some chlorella. If you can't get any of those, eat a salad and chew it really well to loosen up the fibers and thereby increase their "stickiness" to mercury.

My research has revealed that eating ocean fish or seafood without something to mop up the mercury can be very toxic and dangerous to your health because you absorb the mercury through your intestinal walls. But eating ocean fish or seafood together with strawberries is extremely safe because virtually none of the mercury gets absorbed during digestion. The strawberries make your entire meal safer to consume!

And isn't that what we've already known about meals, anyway? Eat whole, fresh fruit or greens with every meal and you'll be a whole lot healthier. To do this in an easy-to-carry portable format, get some freeze-dried whole strawberries and take those with you to lunch (or on the airplane).

All this explains why I now carry freeze-dried strawberries and chlorella with me when I travel. Even if I'm forced to eat a less-than-healthy meal at a restaurant, I can eat some strawberries or chlorella with the meal and know I'm eliminating mercury instead of absorbing it. At many restaurants, you can even find strawberries at the salad bar. So chow down on some fresh fruit!

Important: Why strawberries don't block lead, cadmium and arsenic

As much as strawberries are fantastic at binding with mercury, they're really not very effective at binding with lead, cadmium or arsenic. In fact, fibers are not good binders with heavy metals like lead.

It turns out if you want to bind with lead, you have to rely on a more complex ionic process rather than physical fibers. I've done extensive research on that as well, and I've identified key substances which can selectively bind with lead, cadmium, arsenic and even aluminum, a very difficult metal to capture and eliminate.

Important: Strawberries do not protect you from inhaled mercury via fillings or air pollution

As you apply this valuable knowledge to protect yourself from dietary mercury, please understand that strawberries in no way protect you from inhaled mercury.

In fact, mercury fillings (dental amalgams) are dangerous to your health not so much due to you eating the mercury but from inhaling the toxic mercury gas such fillings give off. Eating strawberries will not block your dental fillings from poisoning you with mercury.

Also, strawberries will not protect you from mercury in the atmosphere. If you live in North America, you are being poisoned by mercury blown over from China and emitted by China's ultra-dirty coal power plants. They release thousands of tons of mercury into the air each year, and a lot of that mercury finds it way to North America via air currents.

It should also be obvious that strawberries will not protect you from mercury in vaccines (and yes mercury is still used in popular vaccines as admitted by the CDC). If you are crazy enough to allow yourself to be injected with mercury in a flu shot, for example, you're going to need a whole lot more than strawberries to get that mercury out of your system. Health Risks of Eating Conventionally-Grown Potatoes


Potatoes are popularly regarded as a “comfort food”, and with good reason. Researcher Judith Wurtman of MIT says that potatoes raise the level of the neurotransmitter serotonin in the brain, decreasing the likelihood of depression, binge eating, and insomnia. Kathleen Des Maisons, a nutritionist and author of the book “Potatoes, not Prozac,” claims potatoes protect against overeating and addictions such as alcoholism. French researchers declared potatoes a “diet food” because they make people feel full. Australian researchers developed a “satiety index” that rates potatoes as the most “satisfying” food around, outranking bread and ice cream. And, as any cook knows, potatoes are extremely versatile. They can be baked, fried, mashed, scalloped, made into salads, used as an ingredient in soups or stews, and matched with a worldwide variety of complementary seasonings.


Since potatoes are such a simple and inexpensive food the tendency is to buy conventionally grown ones, even if one buys other, more flamboyant, vegetables organically. After all, a potato, is a potato, is a potato, right? Think again.
 
Growing potatoes in the modern world of agribusiness implies a clockwork schedule of pesticide application. Before the crop is even planted, the soil is treated with insecticides to kill wireworms. Potato “seeds” (actually tubers) are routinely drenched with fungicide immediately after cutting to prevent the spread of blight. Systemic insecticides, which penetrate the entire potato plant, are generally applied at “hilling” time, when the young potato plants are covered with dirt.

Western vs. alternative medicine



Today, most people who visit a doctor's office don't give any thought to the type of doctor that they're going to see. The traditionally trained doctor in the U.S. is trained one way whereas holistic doctors, also known as natural medicine practitioners, are trained in a completely different way. Many of us trust our doctors implicitly, so when we are prescribed a pharmaceutical, we simply fill the prescription and take it as we are told. Alternative medicine

In complete contrast to Western medicine, alternative medicine treats the body, mind and spirit as a whole rather than so many separate parts. Alternative medicine is all about finding balance and harmony. This can be done through many techniques including natural cures, massage therapy, meditation and acupuncture. Unlike Western medicine, alternative medicine rarely creates unwanted side effects. Pharmaceutical companies have convinced people that side effects are just a normal part of medicine, when the fact is they should not be. True medicine works with the entire body.

Making the switch

It is unfortunate that the vast majority of us are unaware of just how effective natural medicine is. We have been convinced by our money driven society that pharmaceuticals are the only "real" medicine and that any natural remedies are just a bunch of "Hocus Pocus" used by hippies. The next time you need a doctor, you may want to look up your local natural medicine practitioner and try something new. You will most likely be very pleasantly surprised and never go back to the world of Western medicine.
